MARPAT® - The CAS Markush database containing the keys to generic substances in patents

Benefit to you

When you need comprehensive maximum recall for your structure searches of chemical patents, you need MARPAT - the structure-searchable database of generic, hypothetical substances found in patent claims and disclosures.

Content

MARPAT, produced by CAS, contains:

  • More than 800,000 searchable Markush structures from patents covered by CAS from 1961 to the present - 05/09
  • More than 300,000 displayable citations for the Markush structure-containing patents - 12/07
  • Records from 1961-1987 derived from INPI data
  • Displayable information includes bibliographic data, abstract, and CAS indexing

Coverage

  • Markush structures of organic or organometallic molecules found in the patents from countries covered by Chemical AbstractsTM (CA) (except Korea)
  • Not included: Alloys, metal oxides, inorganic salts, intermetallics, and polymers

Update frequency

  • Updated daily with approximately 60-75 patent citations and 150-200 Markush structures
