SciFinder
Support & Training pages for the web version of SciFinder guide you through various training methods and provide technical support.

CAS Customer Care is always on hand to assist as well.


Training

Beginner and intermediate training topics are available in various formats.

  • Tutorials

Learn about exploring research topics, as well as structure and reaction searching in the web version of SciFinder, via WebEx.  Available as short recorded sessions. 

For longer, in-depth sessions (approximately 1 hour), see the

  • How To Guides

These guides, in PDF format, offer quick overviews of SciFinder's basic functionality and are designed for the beginning user.

  • Strategies 

Designed for the intermediate user, SciFinder Strategies help illustrate specific search strategies for:

  • Small molecule searching
  • Synthetic chemistry
  • Polymer chemistry


Browser and System Support

The following browsers are recommended for using the web version of SciFinder:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer, Versions 6.x and 7.x
  • Mozilla FirefoxTM, Versions 2.0 and 3.0 
  • Apple SafariTM 3.0 and 3.1

JavaScriptTM, JavaTM, and cookies must be enabled.  Java runtime environment (JRE) is needed for structure drawing.

Using Internet Explorer 8? - Updated info
