From a set of references, linking to indexed reactions is a 2-step process:
- Extract reactions cited in references of interest
- Refine reactions to those containing the structure of a reactant participant of interest

| Extract cited reactions |
Once references are retrieved, follow these steps to extract the reactions indexed from the papers. |

From the reference viewer, click Get Related . |

The Get Related Information dialog box appears. Click Reactions.

The reaction main viewer appears. All of the reactions indexed from the references are displayed; the reactions may or may not be relevant to the compound of interest. | |
| Refine reactions |
Once the indexed reactions are retrieved, follow these steps to isolate those with the substance of interest in the product. |

From the reaction viewer, click Analyze/Refine . |

The Analyze or Refine dialog box appears. Click Refine . |

The Refine Reactions dialog box appears. Click Reaction Structure . |

The structure drawing window appears. Draw the structure of interest. Click Get Reactions . |

The Get Reactions - Role Definition dialog box appears. Select the reaction role of interest. Click OK.

The Get Reactions dialog box appears. Select the substructure option. Click OK.
