Linking to Reactions
Introduction This section describes how SciFinder subscription users and SciFinder Scholar users can link directly to reactions indexed from references of interest.
Preview

From a set of references, linking to indexed reactions is a 2-step process:

  1. Extract reactions cited in references of interest
  2. Refine reactions to those containing the structure of a reactant participant of interest
Example

Locate preparative reactions of this compound:

Extract cited reactions Once references are retrieved, follow these steps to extract the reactions indexed from the papers.
Step Do this
1

From the reference viewer, click Get Related getrelicon.

2

The Get Related Information dialog box appears. Click Reactions.

3

The reaction main viewer appears. All of the reactions indexed from the references are displayed; the reactions may or may not be relevant to the compound of interest.

Refine reactions Once the indexed reactions are retrieved, follow these steps to isolate those with the substance of interest in the product.
Step

Do this

1 From the reaction viewer, click Analyze/Refine Analyze Refine.
2 The Analyze or Refine dialog box appears. Click Refine refine.
3 The Refine Reactions dialog box appears. Click Reaction Structure reactstructicon.
4 The structure drawing window appears. Draw the structure of interest. Click Get Reactions getreactionsicon.
5

The Get Reactions - Role Definition dialog box appears. Select the reaction role of interest. Click OK.

6

The Get Reactions dialog box appears. Select the substructure option. Click OK.
