STN Express, Version 8.3, is now available for the Windows operating system. The software is free to all STN users, regardless of which version you currently use or if you are new to STN Express.
New in Version 8.3
STN Express software architecture and the installer have been significantly improved in Version 8.3. To comply with Windows software design standards, the installer will place STN Express files and folders in new locations. Transcript, query, script, and other files created in previous versions of STN Express will be copied to a new STN Express 8.3 folder located in:
- My Documents (Windows 2000 and XP)
- Documents (Windows Vista)

Step A - Read about Version 8.3

You must have a web browser and an active connection to the Internet to download Version 8.3. To request the software on CD-ROM, contact CAS Customer Care or visit STN Express Software Licensing.
- Visit the STN Software License and Download web site. This site is available for STN-Columbus and STN-Tokyo Service Center customers and is not available for STN accounts opened over the Internet through STN Easy. European customers should contact STN-Karlsruhe.
- Follow the instructions to download the software installation file to your Desktop or to a download folder. Note where you saved the downloaded file. The file name begins with "v8_3".
Step C - Install Version 8.3
Before you begin, refer to the Guide to New Architecture and Installation and the Getting Started booklet for important information on installation. Do not uninstall your current version of STN Express - it will be removed automatically during the installation process. The new software installer will preserve your logon setups and data files.
- Exit STN Express and all other running programs.
- Locate the software installation file that you downloaded in Step B.
- Double-click the file to launch the installer. Or, right-click on the file and select Open.
- Follow the prompts to install Version 8.3.
Step D - Verify the installation
- Launch STN Express.
- Check the exact version.
- If it is not Version 8.3, review Steps B and C. If the version is correct, you may delete the downloaded software installation file.
