Francisco grew up in South America. He studied chemistry at Concordia University in Montreal and then completed a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Toronto. Currently, he is a post-doctoral researcher at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. His research interests are the synthesis of lead and cadmium free semiconductor nanocrystals and the study of their surface chemistry using 1 and 2-dimentional NMR techniques. He is also passionate about green chemistry and science decolonization. Francisco believes that uprooting colonial power structures in the scientific enterprise is urgent to attain an equitable future in science.
