Jesse Gordon
Jesse earned his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Florida and pursued his Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University with Professor David P. Goldberg. He then joined Harvard University as an NIH NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow in Professor Daniel G. Nocera’s laboratory. Jesse’s goals are to sustainably convert abundant chemical feedstocks into value-added products through catalysis. Currently, he is studying highly oxidizing silver photocatalysts that transform fluoroalkyl carboxylates into fluoroalkyl radicals, enabling organic substrate functionalization reactions relevant to medicinal chemistry. In the fall of 2025, Jesse will start as a faculty member at Northwestern University, where his lab will leverage coordination chemistry and principles of physical inorganic chemistry to develop new catalytic strategies for energy conversion and sustainable synthesis.
