M. Iqbal Bakti Utama

Iqbal is an experimentalist specializing in quantum low-dimensional and molecular materials. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Northwestern University, where he studies chemically tailored 2D materials and molecule-based magnets for quantum technology applications. Iqbal earned his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, focusing on engineering the physical properties of 2D materials. His research aims to harness the quantum properties of low-dimensional and molecular materials by controlling their electronic band structures across diverse length scales to advance quantum technology, photonics, and electronics. His work has been recognized with the IIN Outstanding Researcher Visionary Award and the IIN Postdoctoral Fellowship.
