Shaharyar is a Guggenheim Fellow and a Ph.D. candidate in mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University. His research focuses on developing bio-derived graphitic carbon aerogels for applications in the energy and water sectors. His work has received several recognitions, including the Carbon Nanomaterials Award and the American Water Graduate Presentation Award. Shaharyar holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kashmir and a master’s degree in energy sciences from Jamia Millia Islamia. Outside of his research, Shaharyar enjoys playing ping pong, foosball, and brewing traditional Kashmiri tea.
