Yan Zhang

Yan is an NIH MOSAIC K99/R00 Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on extending cell-free expression systems to engineer synthetic bacteriophages for applications in human health. Before joining Caltech, she completed her Ph.D. in chemical and biomolecular engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she developed cell-free biosensors for point-of-care diagnostics. Yan holds a B.S. in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Cornell University. Her research interests include synthetic biology, biosensors, and phage-inspired therapeutics.
