At the end of the ACS membership application process you will be given the opportunity to create an ACS -ID, if you don’t already have one. We encourage you to create the ACS- ID first to ensure you can access all your ACS Membership Benefits before returning to CAS REGISTRY Innovators page for submitting the request for the complimentary certificate.
A CAS Registry Number (CAS RN) is the industry standard for chemical substances, providing a unique identifier for scientists across all disciplines related to chemistry and life sciences. A CAS RN has been referred to as the gold standard of the scientific information industry.
A CAS Registry Number is assigned to a substance when it is identified as novel and is added to the CAS REGISTRY database. Numbers are assigned using a special algorithm, developed by CAS.
CAS Registry Numbers are assigned when CAS scientists identify a unique chemical substance in the literature that has not been registered by CAS previously. Therefore, your discovery represents a “novel compound” in our data collection.
